Serena Muhammad has had a passion for science and nature from a very young age. Born in 1975 in Newark, New Jersey and raised in Andalusia, Alabama, she is the daughter of the late Dr. Abdul B. Muhammad (a psychiatrist) and the late Gloria Saleem Muhammad (a teacher and homemaker) and grew up in a large family of 8 children. She is a graduate of Georgia State University with a background in education and a degree in sociology. Her love of science led her to become a science teacher and to found the science "edutainment" company Science Creations, where she goes by the name of her alter-ego "Dr.SBSWICTS" ("Silly But Serious When It Comes To Science"). She spends as much time outdoors as possible, enjoying hiking, biking, kayaking, and spending time with family. She also enjoys learning about new people and cultures, especially through travelling, and has travelled extensively including to Canada, Mexico, Malaysia, Venezuela, Great Britain, Syria, Costa Rica, The Bahamas, the Dominican Republic, Turkey and, most recently, Senegal. She has two beautiful daughters, Sadiyyah and Sajdah, and a cat named Ramadan. A to Z Herbs and Spices was her first book, published in February 2021. Her most recent book was published in September 2022 and is titled Science Creations Fun and Easy PreK-5th Grade Lesson Plans for Teachers and Parents.
